Food 4 Less is a national grocery store that's owned by Kroger. The store is a rather informal outfit where every buyer bags their groceries at the checkout themselves. There are four Food 4 Less stores in Ohio, Nebraska, Illinois, and Indiana. However, in northern and southern California, the company operates as Foods co because it doesn't own the rights to the Food 4 Less brand.
Asides from the main four Food 4 Less stores, there are several other Food 4 Less franchises scattered around the United States. However, they are mainly clustered around central and northern California. The name Food 4 Less was previously used by Fleming companies incorporated, but as Fleming started to collapse, the right of the name went to wholesalers.
The Food 4 Less company wasn't originally conceived as Food 4 Less alone. Instead, it started as Food 4 Less and Falleys and was founded by Lou Falley in the 1930s. However, as the years went on, Falleys stores diminished, while Food 4 Less stores continued to grow— till all that was left was Food 4 Less.
