Fiesta Mart is a Latino-American supermarket chain that's headquartered in Texas. The store was founded in 1972 and had an overwhelming majority of its stores in the state. Many of the stores the company operates are usually found in Hispanic communities and minority neighborhoods. The mascot of the chain is a parrot cartoon parrot that captures the festive idea behind the store.
The company was founded by Donald Bonham and O.C. Mendenhall in 1972, and interestingly, neither man had a Hispanic background. However, Bonham had worked for years in Guatemala in 1972 and had supervised the creation of a supermarket in Chile. When Bonham came back to Texas, he discovered that the supermarket chains in the Texas area didn't cater adequately to the Hispanic community. So he decided to remedy that by creating Fiesta.
Asides from selling general supermarket goods, the store also sells cooked Hispanic meals. The company mostly caters to the Hispanic community, and many analysts have praised the store for attracting Hispanic customers and maintaining itself as a Latino brand for Latinos. Fiesta Mart does this by offering a large collection of Hispanic food and ingredients that are generally not obtainable at regular Supermarkets.
